Decide whether you want to focus on Game Development, Animation, Digital Art, or VFX. Each field overlaps, so don’t worry about picking the “perfect” one — just start.
Study basic principles:
• Game Dev → gameplay, mechanics, engines
• Animation → timing, spacing, squash & stretch
• Digital Art → color, lighting, perspective
• VFX → particles, compositing, simulation basics
Start with tools built for beginners:
• Game Dev → Unity, Unreal, Godot
• Animation → Clip Studio, Blender, Procreate
• Digital Art → Krita, Procreate, Photoshop
• VFX → Blender, After Effects, HitFilm
Create something tiny:
• Bouncing ball animation
• A 2D sketch or portrait
• A tiny game prototype (1 mechanic)
• A simple particle effect
Polish a small project — aim for “finished,” not perfect. This becomes your first real portfolio entry.
